How long does it take to get residency (residence) permit? What are the residence permit processing times?
Residence permit processing times are a mystery to many people and it often seems like no one knows what these times actually are and how long it would take for you to get your residence permit. Since this is a question we often get, we will try to answer it as best as possible.
The simple answer is, it varies. It depends on the municipality and province you applied from as well as the information you supplied.
In 2018, the times varied. Some received their Turkish Foreign ID cards in less than a week, others were still unsure after about a month and a half.
Average time in 2019 has been observed to be about a month and a few days, i.e. 40-45 days. Whilst this is no guarantee of the time, it is an indicative measure of how long you will have to wait before your residency card arrives.
It is prudent to point out, that your residency status can be found (if you were approved or denied) from the e-ikamet website (from where you originally submitted your documentation). The website can be found at: https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/
You will also receive an SMS (usually) when the card is dispatched by the Ministry Interior.
