Muğla is a province in the southwestern part of Turkey, and one of the main cities when it comes to vacationing. Here’s a list of some must-see places in Muğla.

1- Kelebek Vadisi

Kelebek Vadisi which means “The Valley of Butterflies” is a natural beauty of Fethiye district in Muğla province. It takes its name from more than 80 different species of butterflies. The most famous one is the jersey tiger. The valley is completely isolated from the outside world, therefore you can only reach there by boat. You can spend your holidays in natural bungalow houses and even join a tour to observe the various butterfly species!

2- Bodrum Ancient Theater

Bodrum Ancient Theater is one of the oldest theaters in the Anatolia. It was built around the 4th century BC during the reign of King Mausolos and enlarged during the Roman era. This worth visiting theater has three parts: stage, orchestra, and Cavea for audience seating. This very ancient theater is well preserved and represents a classical Greek theatre with a maximum capacity of 13,000 people.

3- Kızkumu

Kızkumu beach is one of the best places in Muğla. The beach is famous for its 600 m sand path in the sea which will make you feel like you are walking on the water. The water is also very clear and you’re allowed to swim. Do not forget to take proper shoes if you want to walk on the sea!

4- Azmak

Azmak is a creek with ice-cold water even in the hottest days in Akyaka, Muğla. This natural beauty is one of the best places in Muğla that you should visit with family. The creek flows among the greens so the view is magical. No doubt that you will feel very peaceful. There are also restaurants located on both sides of Azmak that serve seafood. Enjoy your meal with your toes dipped in this ice-cold water!

5- Ölüdeniz

Ölüdeniz is a popular tourist attraction along Turkey’s Lycian coast and is one of the best beaches in Europe which is awarded the blue flag. It is famous for turquoise and aquamarine waters along with white sands. It not only is relaxing but also adrenaline. You can go for paragliding and watch fascinating views from 2,000 meters above.

6- Sedir Adası (Cleopatra Island)

Sedir Adası, also known as Cleopatra Island, is located in Marmaris, Muğla. According to the myth, this is the golden sandy beach that formed up for Cleopatra. You can see the ruins of Cedrae’s ancient city on the island. If you take a boat tour in Marmaris, the captain will not miss this fascinating place!

7- İztuzu Beach

İztuzu is a very popular beach in Dalyan, Muğla. However, there are a few limitations to visiting this beach. The beach is a natural home to Caretta Caretta (giant sea turtles) for its fine sands. Therefore, turtles lay eggs on the beach so access to the beach is limited. But, it is absolutely worth seeing. İztuzu gives a feeling like no other beach. There’s nothing more relaxing than listening to the sound of the waves and watching nature. You just cannot afford to miss this must-see place in Muğla.
