Turkish Visa On Arrival Rule Abolished
With the new Turkey visa requirement, visitors are required to apply for a visa before traveling. The application can be made online through the e-Visa website of the Republic of Turkey. Although there are other websites through which the application can be made, the Turkish government strongly advises against it as there are extra charges, while others issue fake visas.
Visa Costs
An e-visa costs $20 and payment can be done using either debit or credit card. Applicants are allowed to make applications up to 3 months before their travel date. A Turkish visa entitles a visitor to multiple visits within 90 days over a period of 180 days.
Visa Exemptions
British citizens who enter the country on cruise ships do not need a visa provided they have British Citizen passports. They are free to tour the port city as well as the nearby cities. However, this exemption applies only to visits of less than 72 hours.
Passport Validity Requirement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises potential applicants to ensure that their passports are valid for not less than six months prior to the date you intend to enter the country.
It is noteworthy that e-Visas are only applicable for commercial visitors or tourists. For work or study, visas are issued by the Turkish consulates/embassies.
It is important to acquire the e-Visa prior to your departure to Turkey as you may be denied entry given the new Turkey visa requirements.
